Shaun Jacobs Band
Electromode and G Management is proud to announce that folk-rock singer-songwriter Shaun Jacobs received the gong for Best Adult Contemporary Album at last night’s South African Music Awards.
Shaun was in a tough category with artists including previous SAMA winner Farryl Purkiss, Connell Cruise, The Hinds Brothers and friend Michael Lowman, whom Shaun has shared the stage with several times.
Shaun was also nominated in the categories for Best Producer and Best Engineer.
Of the win, Shaun says: “I was nervous about this category specifically, I never really thought of myself as adult contemporary, and being up against such tough competitors who I respect so much in the game, I wasn’t overly confident about me winning. It was a great surprise! It’s a great honour and I am over the moon about it”

Shaun Jacobs Biography
Shaun Jacobs is a multi-instrumentalist who has been mastering his craft since High School. His debut album, Paper Wings, caught the attention of several radio stations and managers, but it was with the release of the massive hit Love Can in 2013 that catapulted the singer/songwriter into the heart of millions, and the airwaves of radio and TV stations nationwide.
Shaun Jacobs literally recorded each and every single instrument you hear on his sophomore album. He also did every single lead and backing vocal. He also produced, mixed and mastered every note. So aside from being a fantastic song writer and singer, his musicality stretches to his abilities to play drums, keys, bass, guitar, banjo, ukulele – you name it!
With the success of Love Can (reaching #2 on 5fm, and staying in the Top 10 of iTunes singles charts for 11 weeks), came the release of End of The Road, which saw even greater success when the album was released, landing in the #2 spot behind Van Coke Cartel the day the album was available on iTunes in South Africa.
Love Can was also acknowledged as one of Simfy’s top tracks for 2013 and was featured in 5fm’s Top 100 songs for the year. This all led to Shaun being selected to share the stage with Nickelback on their All Hits Tour at the end of 2013. In 2014, Shaun received three nominations so the South African Music Awards, namely Best Adult Contemporary Album, Best Producer and Best Engineer, taking home the award for Best Adult Contemporary Album for Love Can.
Shaun had the opportunity to perform at Parklife in March sharing the stage with KT Tunstell as well as the Marie Claire Prix d’Excellence earlier this year. Follow Shaun Jacobs on Twitter @ShaunJacobsBand
