Vibe manager Bibi, welcomes the audience, thanks the sponsor Renault Edenvale Route 24 & shares a beautiful rendition of “The Story”.
The pre-show is by Jacques Moolman, featuring songs from his latest CD “The Great Valley Redemption”. He grew up in the ‘Groot Marico’ & regularly spends time there to write songs. ‘Hard rain’, ‘Wonderous Thing’ (which he wrote for his fiancé), ‘Tear-eyed Moon’ & ‘Into the rain’ (the first single from his album) are all his original music.
Main act Ross Learmonth shares that it’s the first time that he’s performing here on keyboard. It’s a lockdown skill he taught himself, one which didn’t go too well according to him. He was in Nashville last year looking to write new songs with other people.
Most of the songs he shares tonight are well loved favourites, some from other artists, some of his own: ‘In the wild’, ‘River’ (by Leon Bridges), ’Fall too fast’ (reminds him of his days in Middelburg), ‘Live that long’ (by Lewis Del Mar), ‘Feel again’, ‘Hello’ (where it all began for Prime Circle), ‘Feel again’, ‘Innocence, ‘Drum’, & ‘Pretty like the sun’.
Ross shares that he is an “African Scotsman: the only difference between him & a Afrikaner is he can’t braai but they share the same drinking problems”.
Before he performs ‘Ghosts’, he shares that – as in the case of this song - it means a lot more to him when someone tells him that a song has helped them through something, rather than a crowd singing along to a song.
This kind hearted songwriter & painter also shares some new songs for the first time tonight: ‘Natural disaster’ (about a woman who is accident prone) & ‘Forrest’ (this one is very important to him as it is not finished yet & therefor it is still his).
The audience applauds for an encore & Ross returns to the stage to close the evening with the hit ‘She always gets what she wants’.
Please follow Ross, Die Blou Hond & Casa Toscana for upcoming events.
